Per eye and both eyes, in euro. Our guide, not a quote.

Why two Dublin clinics can quote so differently
- One quote is a 'from' price for low prescriptions; the other is for your eyes.
- One is per eye, the other for both.
- One includes check-ups to a year and a top-up; the other covers three months.
- A hospital-based eye centre can sit at the top of the range.
The extras to budget for
- The assessment: free to €200, sometimes taken off the treatment price.
- A taxi or a lift home on the day, and to the next-day check if you aren't cleared to drive.
- Time off: about two working days after LASIK or SMILE, about five after LASEK or PRK.
- Later check-ups once the included period ends: about €120 to €230 a visit at some clinics.
After tax relief
Laser treatment for defective eyesight qualifies for Revenue's health expenses relief at 20%. LASIK on both eyes at €3,000 to €5,200 costs €2,400 to €4,160 once the relief comes back. Claim it in myAccount and keep the receipts for six years.
